Our Principles
#1 Poetry for Wellbeing is similar to other expressive art, music and dance therapies in that it focuses on the whole person's wellness.
Our Method
Release Your Mind
Treat Your Body
#2 Poetry for Wellbeing is about individuals using poetry to find meaning in their own lives, rather than understanding what an author was trying to say
Getting Here
#3 Using Poetry for Wellbeing we create an environment of generous support and focus on how poems and words can offer healing and self-understanding
#4 Poetry for Wellbeing uses imagination to provide us with a new way to look at our lives and the world around us.

New understandings of yourself become a bridge to connect and share with others.
What would I do in the Poetry Circle?
Right now all our groups meet virtually, on the internet. A typical group starts with reading a quote, or poem (like the one to the right). Group members share what the poem means to them. Since everyone's life experience is different, there can be many different meanings in the group. Then we write together, responding to a prompt, a question, or the completion of a phrase. Anyone who wishes to share what they've written has a chance to do so.
The Way It Is
William Stafford

There’s a thread you follow. It goes among
things that change. But it doesn’t change.
People wonder about what you are pursuing.
You have to explain about the thread.
But it is hard for others to see.
While you hold it you can’t get lost.
Tragedies happen; people get hurt
or die; and you suffer and get old.
Nothing you do can stop time’s unfolding.
You don’t ever let go of the thread.
