I start writing to the prompt and my mind kind of turns off so I'm not really thinking, but my imagination takes over. I'm surprised what feelings and details I write sometimes...
It seems like every poetry group meeting is a little bit magical. We will share the exact poem I need to hear that day. And when I write, even if I have no idea what to say when I start, the prompt will lead me to exactly where I need to go.

"Here's why this work is important in my life... It enables someone who has never before written a word of poetry to immediately connect deeper to self, others and this mysterious thing called life. Poetry simply becomes the vehicle for connection."
Matthew, Retired Organizational Culture Coach
I have loved the time I have gotten to spend in the poetry group. Time is an ever-present source of tension in my job, but when I click on the Zoom link and join the group of smiling faces, thoughtful voices, time takes a break and lets me relax into myself as a part of a community.
